[LOTRO] How to get Lord of the Rings Online working for ISBoxer

E-mail Print PDF

Update: As of January 25, 2011, Lord of the Rings Online no longer requires additional parameters in order to launch multiple windows from the same folder. We are working on updating the video with current information; read the guide on this page directly below the video for the most up-to-date information.

This video shows you how to get Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) ready for multiboxing with ISBoxer, as described below.

Here's the rundown

First, make sure Lord of the Rings Online is added to Inner Space. If Inner Space detected LOTRO, you should have a "Lord of the Rings Default Profile" profile that should work. If not, right click the Inner Space icon in the system tray and select Add Game. Name it whatever, e.g. LOTRO. For the Game Executable box, click ... to the right and point it at TurbineInvoker.exe, then click OK.

Next, make sure in the launcher options (there's a little down arrow thing in the upper right corner of the LOTRO launcher), in the Advanced tab, that Show the launcher in the system tray is turned OFF. This will also turn off an automatic download option. These options must be disabled or ISBoxer cannot launch your characters correctly.

Then in the options in the game, make sure it is set to DirectX9 or DirectX11 (not 10, sorry!).

That's it. Inner Space and ISBoxer should work! Run the Quick Setup Wizard, make sure to follow the Quick Start Guide, and have fun!

If you get a "Can't bind local socket" error

  1. Open your UserPreferences.ini file, found in your Documents\The Lord Of The Rings Online folder
  2. Look for a line that says [Net] near the bottom
  3. A couple lines below [Net] is a line that says
ComputeUniquePort=True

Change it to:

ComputeUniquePort=False
