1 of the 4 screens pauses

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there are any fixes for this. I will be running the game and as I am fighting a huge battle, one of the screen sometimes pauses for 1-5 secs. I have a GTX 970 4GB DDR card and a newer comp. So anyone else have this. Playing D3 on Hardcore is pretty dangerous with this happening. luckily I can just switch to another of the 4 and keep playing, but that one toon just sits there in lala land :)

This will happen more with some maps than others

Never assume (not that you are, but other people have) that because you have a fairly decent, or recently built machine that it's going to automatically handle multiboxing flawlessly. You should be monitoring your hardware if you're experiencing any issues, as well as checking out the rest of that Wiki entry to see if any of it helps improve performance.

Re: 1 of the 4 screens pauses

Your GTX 970 is probably loaded to its limits when you run four instances of the game.

And since the card has its issues after 3,4 GB of its VRAM is filled that may be your problem.
Use GPU-Z for example to check you VRAM load. If you need more than 3,4 GB of VRAM your card enters its sector where it is 80% slower.
If you need any sources you can Google it up.

Ok thanks, I will look into it.

I just went from a GTX 760 2GB card to the GTX 970 4GB last night and still the same problem. The 760 handled everything really well also. It just seems with the big fights it slows down :)

Yes, that is a knows issue on the GTX 970. There are petitions to sue Nvidia for false marketing because of this. Lots of people are really angry right now.

The "issue" you speak of has nothing to do with anything below 3.5GB of VRAM, and I HIGHLY doubt that four D3 clients are eating up over 3.5GB of video RAM. There are plenty of people using a GTX 970 without any issues at all, and the OP's issue is much more likely going to be a CPU problem.

Re: 1 of the 4 screens pauses

Well here is the first report, playing for about 30 mins. No stalls yet

My comp is a Asus with Intel i7 processor 12 GB RAM

If you cant see the attachment.

The 4 core processors were about 75% max
GTX was at about 60% and of my 12GB RAM the max value hit 10.3 GB

I tried to hit the battles as hard as I can. So I assume once in awhile it must spike to 100%

I will keep trying to see if I hit my Max Ram of 12(well most likely 11.5ish) That would be the easiest thing to fix

What resolutions and framerates are you running the 4 boxes on? I also just noticed im at 100% all 4 cores with 4 boxes (1080x1920 on all 4 stacked windows on one monitor unlimited framerate for better syncing). Do I need to upgrade my CPU? I don't like it running at 100% whole time even if gameplay is speed. I'm overclocked and anything could happen. I also have 8 gigs of RAM but the load is only at 85-90% so it must be the CPU.

This is kind of a random thread to ask this on, and we're now derailing the thread, but we have a guide written up specifically to help with this type of question. HOWTO: Tweak your framerate You should also be checking your GPU usage (see the "Identifying framerate bottlenecks" section from the link), but if your CPU is 100% in use the bottleneck is probably CPU. Resolution is generally going to be more of a GPU eater than CPU; you can decrease various other settings to reduce CPU usage though.

But to answer the "Do I need to upgrade" question -- it would probably help to know what hardware you're running. Either a faster CPU or lowering CPU-related settings will help drop that 100% number though.

Re: 1 of the 4 screens pauses

Thanks...Well it's all at lowest settings. My framerate is pretty good. Around 60 for each of the client windows(probably dips below 60 in fights); it's just that the CPU is 100%. I5-4670k SLI 760GTX. Don't know what other settings I could reduce so I just assumed resolution would be a culprit. Does hyper-threading really benefit that much? Anyone else quad box at 1920x1080 with 60fps on all 4 clients?

Edit: Also just noticed your RAM in the report maxed out at 7.6? Where'd you get the 10.3 number. And just realized my framerate drops a lot in fights to ~30 FPS which kind of sucks but it's still playable.
